About Utting Wolff

The people behind Utting Wolff Spouts are Geoff Jones and Claudia Gillberg, the former a masters student in medicinal chemistry and the latter a PhD in Education. As teenagers we were both hit by myalgic encephalomyelitis and our combined experience of (living with) this illness gives us a bit of an insight into an array of fields. As we have managed to muddle our way through to a number of degrees, job titles and countries we fancy ourselves slightly qualified to spout on science, medical, societal, social, political and cultural matters on occasion. Follow us on Twitter at @DrCGillberg and/or @geoffbiosci.

A Short Spout.

Hi All,

A short post from UWS this morning as we want to promote a couple of very good pieces by ME sufferers:

First, an excellent and insightful article by Tanya Marlowe[1]. We’re not religious ourselves and some of the comments below the piece don’t seem overly Christian but it is a very well written article and especially relevant to those of us wondering what the newly elected Conservative government has in store for the sick and disabled (nothing good would be our guess).

Secondly, The 2015 Artist Showcase on the M.E. Again website[2]. There is some amazing artwork on display here, relating to what it feels like to be suffering from a debilitating chronic illness like ME, we’d recommend you visit the page and have a look.

We will shortly be posting about our project concerning young people with ME and their transition into adulthood, it’s taking slightly longer than anticipated as we’re such a healthy bunch.

All the best,

Claudia and Geoff
